PROLOGUE - World Stage
So where did this all begin? And how did I get involved in this nightmare in the first place? To explain, I will have to go back to the start. But before I go into the details of how I initially got myself tangled up in Project Code-X, let me first give you a little background information on the state of world affairs at that time. Let me also tell you about a nation that was once my homeland, a nation called Yuropia.
At the time of me writing this, it is October 12th, the year is 2098, and the entire world has been left devastated by war – a war like no man has ever seen or will ever see again. But let me rewind back about ten years or so, and let me guide you through the precise sequence of events which managed to bring this world ‘to its knees’ so-to-speak.
You see, long before World War 3 ever broke out on the earth, there was already a war taking place in the world. For over three hundred years, an intense, silent and deadly war was being waged against all of humanity by the governing authorities of each Nation State – a war for control of people’s minds.
While this secret war effort by the Super-Powers against their own peoples was somewhat retarded in the past; not only by the rebellions of the people against the Super-Powers as their plans began to be exposed, but also because the Super-Powers were at ruthless war with each other for ultimate world control. It was five years ago from today, however, that this intense, silent and deadly war for control of people’s minds transformed into a more open, brutal and unashamed war on the people. This transformation initially taking place in Yuropia, and in which I unintentionally played a major part. The brutality and depravity of Yuropia’s lead then spread quickly all over the world until all citizens of all nations were subdued.
At this time, the world was divided into five Nation States who were all vying for supreme global headship. These Nation States were Ameron- Major & Minor, Yuropia, Aziana, Afrikana & Ozan. Each Nation State was distinctly unique in its approach to global warfare, with each one having its own personal strengths and individual areas of specialisation. Ameron was at the fore for advanced military technology, including military weapons, and machinery and transport for land, sea and air. Aziana was concentrated solely on nuclear armament. Ozan and Afrikana were the most advanced in their militia training- combat fighting, psychological warfare and secret service operations, while Yuropia was predominantly focused on scientific research and bio-technology.
It is in Yuropia where my own story begins. For as long as I can remember, for all the citizens living here, Yuropia was seen as the centre of the world. In fact, it had always been viewed in this way by its citizens, despite whatever alliances may have existed between Yuropia and other Nation States in the past. This profound and lasting sense of superiority was cultivated and bred into the very core being of every Yuropian citizen. It was ingrained and indoctrinated into our children from an early age at school. It was a ferocious conquering spirit, and it stemmed from Yuropia’s ability to subdue and dominate all those who stood in its way.
Everything in Yuropia was well-structured, orderly and efficient, and good planning and organisation were the keys in achieving this. Yuropia was divided into nine Yuropoles in all, and these Yuropian mega-metropolises each served as a type of body part to the Yuropian Nation as a whole. These nine Yuropoles were home to Yuropia’s one billion citizens.
Yuropole One was the main Yuropole and it served as the hive of Central Government and Intelligence. All other Yuropoles were located at equidistant points from this focal Yuropole; and each subsequent Yuropole was connected up to Yuropole One, not only through wireless interfacing, but also physically by an elaborate electro-magnetic tube system.
Central Government and Intelligence were at the heart of Yuropia, and Yuropole One was the central convergence point of all electro-magnetic tubes and autocar highways. ‘Roads’, a words from Yuropia’s old vernacular, was a word now used to encompass both of these routeways. At Yuropia’s construction, the popular saying of the day became ‘All Roads Lead to Yuropole One’, as all of the engineers, the developers and the site foremen overseeing the construction work kept reiterating to the manual labourers and machinery operators the extreme importance of the convergence point at Yuropole One. And this saying, over time, became shortened to ‘All Roads Lead to One’; and the Government, liking its connotations so much, adopted this as the national slogan of Yuropia.
